CoolSculpting is an FDA-approved, non-invasive procedure that gently reduces fat in problem areas of the body. What makes CoolSculpting different than other fat reduction procedures is its unique cooling technology that targets and crystallizes fat cells.
During the process, an applicator is used to deliver controlled cooling to areas of stubborn fat. This triggers a process of natural removal, which gradually reduces the thickness of the fat layer.
How CoolSculpting works
Cryolipolysis is the non-invasive method of cooling of fat cells to break them down without damaging surrounding tissue. Cryolipolysis is based on the principle that fat cells are more vulnerable to cooling than surrounding tissue cells. An applicator is attached to the targeted area. The fat cells are cooled and undergo apoptosis (programmed cell death) while the surrounding skin, nerves, muscles, and other tissues are protected. The dead fat cells are then broken down, digested by the immune cells in the body, and are processed by the liver. As the fat cells slowly exit the body, the thickness of the targeted fat layer becomes smaller.
Commonly Treated Areas
CoolSculpting has a variety of applicators, specifically designed to treat unwanted fat in the following areas:
|Love Handles||Belly Pouch||Inner/Outer Thighs|
|Muffin Tops||Bra Folds||Back of Arms|
The Best Candidates
The best CoolSculpting candidates are those who maintain a healthy weight but struggle with pockets of fat that are resistant to exercise or diet. They are seeking spot reduction for specific areas of fat, but are not considering a surgical procedure.
A patient’s expectations are important. CoolSculpting will not provide the rapid or dramatic results of more invasive methods such as Liposculpture or Liposuction. Although one treatment is usually sufficient to see visible improvement, multiple treatments will be necessary to realize more dramatic results.
During a complimentary consultation, an evaluation of your candidacy for CoolSculpting and specific body areas is completed by our certified CoolSculpting Technician. Your body composition, treatment area, type and amount of excess fat, expectations, and desired outcomes are assessed to determine if you are a candidate for this treatment. An individualized treatment plan will then be developed specifically for you.
To initiate the treatment, we will position the CoolSculpting applicator on your body. This device will then draw in the bulge between two cooling panels. The sensation is a firm pull and pressure – enough of a pull to ensure the selected tissue will be cooled most efficiently. The procedure takes about one hour per treatment area.
Typically, patients are comfortable enough to read, work on their laptop computers, listen to music, or just relax during the procedure.
After the Procedure
CoolSculpting is completely non-surgical, so you can usually return to normal activities immediately. Some patients experience redness, tingling, bruising, or numbness in the treated areas, but these are temporary and not experienced by all patients.
For most patients, full results will appear after two to three months, but some patients may start to see results as early as 2-3 weeks.* Your body will continue to flush fat cells for up to four to six months after treatment.*
