Known as the non-invasive lift, Ultherapy is a safe, focused ultrasound treatment that counteracts the effects of time and gravity on your skin. Ultherapy uses the body’s regenerative response to stimulate the collagen. Ultherapy is effective in gently and gradually lifting skin on the brow, under the chin, and on the neck. It can also be used to smooth fine lines and wrinkles on the décolletage. The result provides an overall lifting of facial outlines and a tighter, better-fitting skin--even on the neck.
How Ultherapy Works
Ultherapy employs focused ultrasound energy delivered to the dermal and deep layers of the skin without affecting intervening tissue. Over a three to six month period, weak collagen is reorganized and strengthened, which in turn tightens and lifts the skin.
Unlike lasers and other technologies, Ultherapy avoids the surface area of the skin, delivering the right energy at the right depths and temperature for collagen reproduction. It is the only procedure to use ultrasound imaging, which allows us actually to see the layers of tissue we target during the treatment and ensure the energy is deposited precisely to where it will be most effective.
Ultrasound is micro-focused below the skin’s surface to cause cellular friction and precise, pinpoint heating. Tissue at the focal point is heated to around 65°C, causing immediate collagen contraction and denaturation, and initiating aggressive collagen synthesis. Over 90-180 days, the wound-healing response stimulates long-term tissue remodeling and leads to further lifting and tightening,
The Ultherapy Procedure
First, you will have a consultation to assess your skin’s laxity. Our Sante Medical Team will evaluate the areas you are interested in treating and confirm if Ultherapy is the treatment for you.
Before your procedure, a series of photos will be taken so we can gauge your progressive results over a six month period. Your laser rejuvenation technician who specializes in Ultherapy will then cleanse the areas being treated and apply an ultrasound gel to the skin.
Ultrasound imaging is used to determine the ideal placement of the energy and then will deliver energy to the focused area underneath the skin. In order to deliver the appropriate amount of energy to stimulate collagen reproduction, a certain number of pulses are delivered to each area. You will feel the energy being delivered underneath the skin. The sensation will subside after the pulse in each particular area is complete. While comfort levels vary from patient to patient, there are many options available to make the procedure more tolerable.
Treatments typically take anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes depending on the number of areas being treated.
