Vascular/Pigmented Lesion Lasers
About Vascular/Pigmented Lesion Lasers
Vascular and pigmented lesion lasers are designed to reduce the appearance of facial veins, redness, and benign vascular lesions. At Sante Medical, we have four different laser or light devices specifically dedicated to treat such cosmetic conditions:
One of the many reasons Sante Medical is so effective in treating cosmetic vascular and pigmented lesion conditions is that we have the necessary range of lasers and light devices to create the best possible individualized results in the shortest amount of time.
How Vascular/Pigmented Lesion Lasers Work
Vascular skin conditions consist of broken or abnormal blood vessels in the skin, in which the blood vessels dilate to cause redness and flushing. Vascular/pigmented lesion lasers treat such conditions by emitting a specific wavelength that is absorbed by the hemoglobin contained in red blood cells. The laser energy heats the abnormal vessels until they are removed. At the end of treatment, the patient’s natural skin tone and color are restored.
The laser avoids injury to adjacent tissue in two ways. First, the color of light used is selectively absorbed by the vascular target and not normal tissue. Only the hemoglobin within the abnormal vessels soaks up the light energy. Second, the brief laser pulses of energy are just long enough to heat the desired target. The light energy is automatically turned off before there is time for the surrounding area to heat above the threshold for damage.
The following is a description of the four lasers or light devices used by Sante Medical to treat vascular and pigmented lesion conditions:
Excel V is a dual wavelength laser offering both 532 nm green and 1064 nm infrared wavelengths. This range allows Sante Medical to choose the most appropriate treatment wavelength for your cosmetic condition.
Excel V has an adjustable spot size, which allows precise and effective treatment for both superficial and deeper problems. This range of laser spot sizes ensures that small treatment areas can be targeted at greater precision and larger areas can be treated in a shorter period. To provide patient comfort, Excel V uses new cooling technologies which produce continuous cooling before, during and after the laser pulse.
The Excel V system also contains various wavelength modes, allowing the delivery of both short pulses for superficial blemishes such as small lesions and skin discoloration, and longer pulses for deeper vascular conditions such as spider veins and port wine stains. This high level of customization is what makes Excel V so effective in treating many different conditions. Often, these conditions can be treated in just one session, using just one devise.
VariLite KTP is a dual wavelength laser offering both 532 nm green and 940 nm infrared wavelengths. The 532 nm wavelength treats superficial vascular lesions, pigmented lesions, non-pigmented lesions. The 940 nm wavelength treats deeper, larger vessels such as leg veins.
Commonly Treated Areas and Conditions
A wide variety of cosmetic and medical conditions-- from superficial and deep vascular conditions to pigmented lesions--can be successfully treated using the vascular/pigmented lesion lasers at Sante Medical:
- Broken capillaries
- Spider veins – small, superficial purple or red veins on the legs
- Facial veins – small or threadlike veins on the face
- Hand veins – broken veins on the hands
- Facial telangiectasia – surface veins caused by dilation of capillary vessels
- Cherry angiomas – slightly raised, red lesions
- Spider angiomas – slightly raised, red spider-like lesions
- Rosacea and Flushing – red facial lesions around the nose and cheeks causing a sunburned, irritated look
- Sun damage, age spots and lentigo – flat, brown spots on the skin, present on skin with frequent sun exposure
- Freckles – brown spots on the skin
- Port wine stains
- Dermatosis Papulosis Nigra – small black raised lesions seen primarily on people of Asian or African descent
- Keratoses - slightly elevated pigmented lesions often found on the back and hands
